Waste management is the second theme of the United Nations Environment Programme's recently launched programme. By encouraging Europeans to recycle their old mobiles, many valuable resources can be saved. One tonne of recycled phones, for example, can generate up to 230 grams of gold, to name just one useful mineral of many others. On GreenUp's website, a map shows you where to recycle your phone.

Aiming at taking Green Economy ideals to European citizens by encouraging green, positive actions GreenUp shows that change is possible. Each citizen action relates to one of the 10 sectors of UNEP's Green Economy Report.

GreenUp is also an accessible source of information on the green economy & Rio+20. And through social media such as facebook, twitter or YouTube, GreenUp is gathering people's thoughts on what the Green Economy means to them, as well as trying to explain the technicalities in the most accessible way possible.
